Description: “We cannot say goodbye to those whom we love and respect, for the memories we have made will last a life-time and will never know a goodbye.” On the 21st of April, the SJC family gathered to bid adieu to the three titans who had lit up our school with their vibrant presence and constant enthusiasm. We gathered with heavy hearts, but with smiles on our faces; with the knowledge that the end of their journey with SJC marked the beginning of a glorious new chapter in their lives. The event commenced with an introduction by the Mistress of Ceremonies, Mrs. K. Dutta, who explained what it means to be a teacher dedicated to the cause of education. This was followed by a Bible reading and prayer by Mrs. R. Sircar. We then had the pleasure of listening to a melodious prayer song by the junior section choir, led by Miss S. Jagan. After our College Anthem, the three teachers were presented with floral greetings by our Principal, Rev. Fr. Rolfie D’Souza, Vice Principal, Rev. Fr. Joseph Sagayanathan, Head Master Rev. Fr. Titus Lobo, KG. Co-ordinator Sister Jyotika and Administrator Mr. A . McGowan. This was followed by the march-past of the senior section students. The LKG students then expressed their heartfelt gratitude through a delightful group dance performance. Simar Singh of class 5-G then spoke for Miss Jhumur Roy, describing her as a dynamic force in the lives of her students. Thereafter, primary school students presented Miss Roy with bouquets and cards while Vinayak Saxena of class 10-B recited a self-composed poem bidding ‘Adieu’ to our beloved teachers. Miss Roy then thanked the school management. She spoke about how her beloved students embodied innocence and purity. She advised all students to be focused in order to be successful. She was then presented with a memento by our Principal. A poem recited by Vinayak Saxena of Class X-C as a mark of respect to the beloved teacher Mrs. M. Francis, which is as follows : Like a rare gem Found in the depths of the earth You are one of those jewels Of whom there is a dearth We were your prized possession Whom you Always kept safe and secure Your teachings and lessons of life Will always be in our hearts. I remember the times when you were there for me Through my many tears you helped me to see reality Yes ma'am you were always there for me You stood close to me like a friend, there for me Until the end I never forget you, the things You helped me through, I saw my inspiration It is you You were always there when I needed you I now will always have great memories of you You would ask me “how are you doing?” I would say I’m fine As tears start to form in my eyes You always knew that I was really not fine You are someone that I want to be like I found out who that person is, that person is you I hope that you remember me through your days For you have thouched a millions hearts and mine as well in so many ways I look up to you and I see a ray of sunshine Shining in on me I know God sent me one of his angels When he sent you to me I am so happy to have you with me You helped me to really see what I couldn’t see You helped me to find the real me You turned me into the beautiful person That I was meant to be If I say goodbye to you I will just fall apart Because you have always been in my heart I remember the day I first met you and you met me It was really meant to be you are someone I hold close to my heart You will always be there through we may be far apart. In his speech, Vinayak Tiwari of class 12-A, thanked Mrs. Margaret Francis for altering the course of her students’ lives and inspiring them to meet her standards of perfection. He told us ‘not to cry because it was over, but to smile because it happened’. She was then presented with bouquets by our middle school students as symbols of their gratitude towards her. Mrs. Francis emphasized the need for confidence, as well as ability, in her students. She urged all of us to be confident and to have the strength to not to stray from the path of virtue. She instilled in us a sense of pride for our school and blessed us with success to bring it glory wherever we go and through whatever we do. The senior section choir, led by Mr. Daniel, then expressed their feelings on this occasion through a prayer song. In his speech, Fawaaz Ahmad of class 11-D, thanked Mr. K.P. Rappai for making studying interesting and for always being there to help his students, whether academically or otherwise. In his subsequent address, Mr. Rappai told us how his 34 years at this school felt only like 34 days. He encouraged us to go on the path of simple living and high thinking. He asked us to “Worry less, read more, exercise daily, relax often, love always and to be happy.” Our beloved Principal Rev. Fr. Rolfie D’Souza, then urged us all to be both human and humane, emphasizing how these three teachers had spoken their hearts out today and had always been a blessing to us. Afterwards, there was a short gathering of the staff in the Hogan Hall in which our beloved teachers expressed their feelings on the occasion of their farewell. It has been rightly said, “Our memories of yesterday will last a lifetime. Joseph Sagayanathan in his speech said that even after their retirement they would keep teaching in their own significant way at every step of life.
