Albert Barrow Memorial All-India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition 2026
On 13 July 2026, St. Joseph's College, Prayagraj, hosted the Albert Barrow Memorial All-India Inter-School Creative Writing Competition 2026, reaffirming its commitment to fostering literary excellence and creative expression.
Held in memory of the late Mr. A.E.T. Barrow (1908–1990), a distinguished educationist, founder Secretary of the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), and a visionary who championed innovation and excellence in Indian education, the competition celebrated the enduring power of the written word.
Participants competed in two categories, engaging with thought-provoking themes centred on environmental stewardship and sustainable living.
Category I explored topics such as Illusion of Endless Resources, A Day in the Life of a Climate Refugee, A Conversation among the Rivers Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati, and 2050: The World We Will Inhabit.
Category II invited students to write on If I Were Responsible for Making My School Sustainable, A Conversation between the Earth and the Moon about Humans, Diary of a Dying Tree, and A Courtroom Where the Earth Puts Humanity on Trial.
The gracious presence and words of encouragement from the Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva, were a source of inspiration to all the participants.
The event provided a meaningful platform for young writers to engage with contemporary environmental issues through thoughtful and creative expression, while honouring the enduring educational legacy of Mr. Albert Barrow.
