St. Joseph's College Hosts ASISC Fr. George Hess, SJ Memorial Declamation Competition – Zonal Level 2026
Prayagraj, July 31: St. Joseph's College, Prayagraj, hosted the ASISC Fr. George Hess, SJ Memorial Declamation Competition (Zonal Level 2026) on Friday. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 10 schools across the Prayagraj Zone, providing a vibrant platform for young orators to showcase their eloquence and interpretative skills.
The programme commenced with a prayer led by Ablel Sanish Thomas, followed by a hymn rendered by the College Choir. Rev. Fr. Walter D'Silva, Principal of St. Joseph’s College, welcomed the gathering and extended his best wishes to the participants. The competition was adjudicated by Dr. Rashmi Jain, Mr. Pranjal Parihar, and Dr. Mrityunjay Rao, while Anosh John, College Captain, compered the proceedings.
Students competed in the Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior categories, displaying remarkable confidence, expression, and oratorical skills. During the judges' deliberations, the audience was treated to a captivating flute recital by Shreedhar Puri of Class VIII.
In the Sub-Junior Category, Alisha Ali of Girls' High School secured the first position while Daksh Raj Talwar of St. Joseph's College finished second. In the Junior Category, Sanidhya Sharma of St. John's Co-Ed School emerged winner, followed by Zainab Seemab of Girls' High School. Ayushi Yadav of Girls' High School won the Senior Category, with Daksh Abhishiktt Lyall of St. Joseph's College securing second place.
The event received appreciation from the participating schools. Mr. J. Lawrence of Boys' High School & College and Mrs. Sana Hashmi of St. Mary's Convent commended the meticulous organisation of the competition and praised the high standard of the participants' performances.
The results were announced by Mrs. C. Wesley, and Dr. Linda Shane Gaffney proposed the Vote of Thanks, thus drawing the curtain on yet another memorable literary event that celebrated the art of public speaking and fostered healthy inter-school camaraderie.
