SEMINAR ON CYBER SAFETY
"Security used to be an inconvenience sometimes but now it is a necessity all the time."
-Martina Navratilova
Which modern invention is a brilliant tool but a formidable foe? Which crime is so insidious that it can pull the rug from under your feet even before you have had time to collect your wits?
Yes, it is cyber crime and the earlier impressionable students are exposed to knowledge about it's malicious reach, the more likely they will be able to fight it using proactive measures.
St. Joseph's College, Prayagraj a name synonymous with student welfare, decided to organise a seminar on cyber safety, in the Hogan Hall, on the 29th of April, 2024. A thunderous round of applause greeted the speaker of the day, Mr. Jai Prakash Singh, as he was ushered inside the Hogan Hall, by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar, the Administrator, Mr. Aubrey McGowan and the Staff Coordinator, Mr. Jyoti Dube. Floral felicitation by the senior most teacher, Mr. N. B. Lawrence and a representative of the students, Aditya Mishra paved the way for the current Head of the Cyber Cell Security, Prayagraj, Mr. Jai Prakash Singh to address the packed Hall.
An insightful PowerPoint Presentation and an interactive session, helped clear the doubts of the students who were made aware of the various ways cyber criminals dupe people. The Speaker urged the students to be very careful while using their Aadhar card and never share their OTPs or passwords with anyone, especially taking care to read messages which ask for OTPs. Rev. Fr. Thomas Kumar concluded the session with thanking the facilitator for sharing his expertise with Class 12 students, asking them to be very vigilant in cyberspace.
