Annual Award Day Report
St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj, celebrated its Annual Prize Day on the 2nd of May, 2025, with great enthusiasm and pride. The event commenced with a solemn invocation of God’s blessings through morning prayers, a Bible reading by Ms. Donna Jonathan, and a melodious prayer song rendered by the Junior Choir. The Mistress of Ceremony, Ms. Fenella Ann De’Souza, welcomed the gathering and introduced the esteemed Chief Guest, Gp.Capt. Achchyut Kumar, who was warmly greeted with a floral tribute by our Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva.
The Prize Distribution ceremony began with the youngest achievers — students of LKG and UKG — being recognized for their commendable performance. This was followed by a vibrant Hindi song and the prize distribution for Classes 1, 2, and 3. The cultural spirit of the day was elevated by a colourful and energetic dance performance by the junior section students.
Prizes were subsequently awarded to students of Classes 4 and 5, celebrating their academic excellence. Among the special accolades, the Manas Memorial Award was presented to Master Sarthak Yadav, which is given in memory of Late Manas Singh by their parents Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh, presently Lecturer at St. Josephs College and Mrs. Sangeeta Singh and the Emerine Shanti Singh Memorial Award was bestowed upon Master Samanyu Bhaskar Shukla, recognizing their exceptional merit and character.
In his address, Group Captain Achchyut Kumar inspired the audience with his words on discipline, determination, and the importance of values in education. His message deeply resonated with both students and faculty, reinforcing the College’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals. A memento was then presented to the Chief Guest as a token of gratitude.
The Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, delivered a heartfelt exhortation, emphasizing the role of perseverance and faith in achieving excellence. The Vote of Thanks, delivered by Ms. D. Jonathan, gracefully acknowledged the contributions of all those who made the event successful, including teachers, students, staff, and parents. The ceremony concluded with the National Anthem, uniting everyone in a moment of patriotic pride.
The Annual Prize Day 2025 was a grand celebration of student accomplishments, school spirit, and collective dedication—truly a day to remember in the annals of St. Joseph’s College.
An exceptional seminar was held at Hogan Hall where the resource person Gp. Cpt. Achyut Kumar shared his experiences about the leadership qualities required in every sphere of activity. He emphasised on reading more books rather than relying only on technology to upgrade and enhance their skills. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mrs.
Sheetal Sebastian thanking the magnanimous personality Gp. Cpt. Achyut Kumar for sparing his valuable time to visit his Alma Mater and share his knowledge with the future leaders.
