“Champions do not become champions, when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it."
-T. Alan Armstrong
The Day two proceedings of Josephest 2025 commenced amidst an atmosphere brimming with intellect, artistry, and competitive fervour. To set a reflective tone for the events ahead, a solemn recitation of the Lord’s prayer was done by Om Tiwari, Head Prefect of the College followed by the recitation of the College anthem. Qawwali, the first event of the day, took off with the participants mesmerising the audience with their profound musical acumen. Qawwali was judged by illustrious personalities such as Mr. Vivek Priyadarshan, Mr. Rahul Ram Kesari and Dr. Akansha Pal.
The Information Technology Association screened a compelling documentary titled ‘Life at SJC’, offering a nuanced and evocative portrayal of the formative experiences that characterise student life at St Joseph’s College. The film eloquently encapsulated the ethos of the institution, weaving together scenes of academic engagement, co-curricular involvement, and enduring camaraderie. This reflective presentation was immediately followed by the unveiling of an electrifying trailer, which set an anticipatory tone for the second day of Josephest 2025 and heralded the array of events to come.
An enthusiastic Hindi debate followed, which was graced by Mr. Prof. Saroj Singh, Dr. Vinamr Sen Singh, and Dr. Santosh Singh and was moderated by Dr. Shlesh Gautam. The Chief Guest for day-two was the acclaimed Indian film director, screenwriter, actor, and producer – Mr. Tigmanshu Dhulia, an alumnus of the College . The Arrival of the Chief Guest brought enthusiasm amongst the audience. The Chief Guest was escorted into the auditorium by The Principal of St. Joseph’s College, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva and School Headmaster, Rev Fr. Melwin Pais and Guest Of Honour, Group Captain Achyut Kumar.
Tigmanshu Dhulia, born in 1967 in Allahabad, is a distinguished Indian filmmaker and actor whose career spans casting direction, acclaimed directorial ventures such as Haasil and the National Award-winning Paan Singh Tomar, and notable performances including Gangs of Wasseypur. His engagement with digital media further reflects his versatility, while his fusion of theatrical discipline and cinematic insight secures his place in the canon of contemporary Indian cinema. The events continued to flourish with fervent participation from the students. The Prize Distribution Ceremony followed which honoured the best performers, celebrating excellence across various competitions. The Chief Guest was invited on stage for his speech. In his discourse, Tigmanshu Dhulia began with gentle humour, confessing he had momentarily forgotten his words. Reflecting candidly on his school days, he confessed that he was fondly in love with music and theatrics, largely due to the encouragement of supportive teachers. Fondly reminiscing Mr. Kazmi, his teacher, he spoke about the generational gap that defines yet enriches the bond between teachers and students. Dhulia concluded by emphasizing that the true essence of schooling lies not in academic achievements but in the lasting friendships formed, which endure as individuals pursue diverse paths in life. Following the Chief guest’s speech, Arishh Abraaham Alam, the College Captain unveiled his new book. Afterwards, Nishkarsh Gupta, was awarded for securing second position at National ASISC debate, by the Chief Guest.
