Republic Day Friendly Cricket Match: A Spirit of Sportsmanship
Adding to the patriotic celebrations of Republic Day, St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj organised the Annual Friendly Cricket Match between the SJC Staff Team and the Old Boys’ Association (OBA) Team. The match was played in a spirit of camaraderie and healthy competition, reflecting the strong bond between the institution and its alumni.
The Staff Team was capably led by Mr N. B. Lawrence, while the OBA Team was captained by Mr Sanjay Khadduja. The match witnessed thrilling performances from both sides, keeping the spectators thoroughly engaged. Mohammad Azhar Usmani delivered an outstanding bowling performance and was awarded Best Bowler of the Match, while Mohammad Abdul Rehman was declared the Best Batsman. For his exceptional all-round contribution, Mohammad Azhar Usmani was also adjudged the Man of the Match.
With a commendable display of teamwork and determination, the SJC Staff Team successfully defended a target of 266 runs to emerge victorious. The excitement of the match was further enhanced by the lively and insightful commentary of Dr Vishnu Deb and Mr Tyrone Albert, which added great enthusiasm to the sporting atmosphere.
