On Saturday, 31st January 2026, the halls of St. Joseph’s College, Prayagraj, were imbued with warmth, nostalgia, and a celebratory spirit as the institution bade a heartfelt farewell to the outgoing Class XII batch of 2026. The ceremony stood as a poignant tribute to years of academic pursuit, shared memories, and character formation, bringing together students, teachers, parents, and members of the administration.
During the ceremony, the respected Class XII students were formally escorted by their respective Class Teachers, marking a symbolic passage from school life to the wider world. This dignified procession stood as a testament to the guidance, discipline, and values instilled in the students throughout their years at the institution. Class XII-A was escorted by Mr. A. Dixit, Class XII-B by Mrs. Sumona Banerjee, Class XII-C by Mr. Shashi Bhushan Rai, Class XII-D by Mr. N. B. Lawrence, and Class XII-E by Mrs. Lim Terry. The moment beautifully reflected the enduring bond between teachers and students, nurtured through years of mentorship, trust, and shared growth.
The programme commenced with a gracious Welcome Address by Stavya Agrawal, followed by the Lighting of the Ceremonial Lamp by members of the administration, the Staff Coordinator, the Reverend Fathers, and the Parent Representative, Mr. Amit Mishra, symbolising the illumination of knowledge and wisdom. The College Anthem, sung by the College Choir, filled the hall with pride and unity, after which Saransh John led the gathering in prayer. Adding a delightful touch, students of Classes I to V presented a Prayer Song and Dance, captivating the audience with their innocence and enthusiasm.
Shaurya Goswami then unveiled the theme of the programme, “Reminiscence: Lights and Shadows of Our School Life,” capturing the essence of the students’ journey—marked by both triumphs and challenges.
A heartfelt Teachers’ Video Message, featuring Ms. Renu Sarkar and Mrs. Rekha Shukla, deeply moved the audience with words of encouragement and affection. Nishkarsh Gupta delivered the Class XII-A Address with eloquence, followed by a thoughtful Teacher’s Address by Mrs. Sabha Khan. A melodious musical performance by students of Classes IX and XI was warmly applauded. Mohd. Arkaan Khan then spoke on behalf of Class XII-B, expressing gratitude and shared memories.
A Video Message from the Administration was subsequently presented. Mr. A. McGowan, the Additional Administrator, reminded the outgoing students that they were not merely leaving the college but stepping into a world that needs them. He encouraged them to remain kind and compassionate, emphasising that goodness is a lasting legacy to carry forward in life.
Mr. Jyoti Dube, the Staff Coordinator, motivated the students by highlighting the competitive nature of the world and urging them to believe in themselves. Expressing confidence in their abilities, he affirmed that through hard work and self-belief, they would overcome every challenge.
A Hindi skit by the Class XI students brought humour and reflection to the stage. Vikhyaat Mishra presented the Class XII-C Address, followed by a warm Teacher’s Message by Mr. Shashi Bhushan Rai. A special interactive game conducted by Shaurya Goswami and Mohd. Ismail added moments of joy and camaraderie.
Vihaan Katiyar voiced the sentiments of Class XII-D, after which Mrs. Lim Terry delivered a thoughtful Teacher’s Message. Om Kartikey’s English poem showcased literary finesse, while the Farewell Movie, presented by the I.T. Association, nostalgically captured the journey of the batch. Heartfelt reflections by Shayaan Zaman (XII-E) and Shikhar Awasthi (XII-F) concluded the class addresses. The Class XII Special Performance emerged as the highlight of the programme, earning a thunderous ovation for its energy and emotion.
The College Captain, Arrish Abraham Aalam, delivered a dignified Farewell Address, expressing gratitude to the institution. A second video message from Fr. Melvin Pais and Fr. Gladwin Fernandes offered spiritual guidance and blessings. A farewell dance by a mixed group of students from UKG to Class XI beautifully reflected the spirit of togetherness, celebrating the journey of those departing and the promise of those who remain
Dr. Sheen Moses, representing parents, expressed sincere appreciation for the holistic education imparted by the college. The Principal, Rev. Fr. Walter D’Silva, delivered an inspiring address, expressing pride and joy over the outgoing batch. He reminded the students that they were being sent forth as young men to bring change in society by spreading love and light. Comparing humans to a fruit-bearing tree, he explained that growth often comes through pain. He advised students to leave harsh memories behind, cherish happy ones, and move forward equipped with prayer, character, and values. Emphasising that winners are those who keep trying, he wished them success in their examinations and in life, assuring them that the institution would always remain their alma mater and extended family.
The Principal also honoured Mrs. Tara Devi for her 27 years of dedicated service to St. Joseph’s College by presenting her with a gift and memento. The moment was emotional and inspiring, reflecting the values of service, dedication, and duty.
The programme concluded with the Vote of Thanks proposed by Raghav Mishra, followed by the Concluding Message by Stavya Agrawal. The ceremony ended solemnly with the National Anthem, performed by the I.T. Association.
As the farewell drew to a close, the Class of 2026 departed carrying with them the lights and shadows of their journey—memories that will continue to guide them as they step confidently into the future
